A special project in Kenya has received Unibelt’s wholehearted support. Tessa Pouls, the daughter of a valued connection at Unibelt, will be heading to Kenya on behalf of the Global Exploration Foundation, where she will visit various secondary schools. We are proud to support her in making this opportunity and dream a reality.
Tessa is 16 years old and currently in the fifth year of pre-university education. Last October, she noticed posters from Global Exploration Foundation about a trip to Kenya. This sparked her interest, leading her to explore the opportunity further and ultimately decide to travel to Kenya in the summer of 2025. During this internship, students participate in projects abroad to support local communities. These experiences often take place in developing countries raising awareness of issues such as poverty.
The Global Exploration Foundation was founded in 2006 with the mission of connecting young people from around the world, allowing them to learn from each other’s cultures. What started with just one school and one country quickly grew into a fully-fledged foundation. In addition to Kenya, the foundation also visits Ghana, Nepal and Peru among other destinations.
During this three-week journey, Tessa and her group will visit different schools and work alongside local peers. Although the exact activities are yet to be determined, they will include tasks such as renovating classrooms and setting up vegetable gardens and playgrounds. The schools will also receive school supplies brought from the Netherlands.
The students will attend lessons and give presentations at the schools they visit. Additionally, a visit to the Dutch Embassy in Nairobi is part of the program. By visiting several schools, the students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the significant differences in daily life and education that exist in Kenya.
Through this adventurous project, Tessa hopes to gain valuable insights from other cultures and carry this experience with her for a lifetime. As a sponsor, Unibelt wishes her the best of luck and an unforgettable time in Kenya.
