Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Unibelt. With only one Earth to protect, we strive to minimize our environmental impact through thoughtful, innovative, and practical measures. While we embrace innovative techniques and measures, we also recognise the importance of smaller, simpler actions that contribute to positive change.
At Unibelt, we understand that small actions can lead to significant results. For example, we upgraded to a larger gas tank, reducing truck visits from twice a week to just once a month, resulting in a marked reduction in CO2 emissions. We consistently order certified wood, segregate our waste (collected by PreZero, a waste management specialist), significantly reduce internal paper usage, and recently replaced our coffee machine with a second-hand model instead of buying a new one.
Sustainability at Unibelt also has a creative and engaging side: much of the office furniture at Unibelt is made in-house from recycled materials. This initiative not only supports sustainability but also actively involves our employees in the process of creating a more sustainable work environment.
The strength of steel lies in its longevity. Unlike plastic, steel is highly recyclable. The percentage of recycled steel used in our production process is steadily increasing, which greatly contributes to a circular economy. Furthermore, our lighter belt designs enhance energy efficiency.
Unibelt continually strives to integrate sustainability throughout the company. However, the biggest challenge remains the considerable costs associated with environmentally conscious production methods. Sustainable manufacturing often requires higher upfront investments in materials, technology and processes. Striking the right balance between cost-efficiency and environmental responsibility is not a simple task. It is essential to make decisions that are both financially viable and ecologically responsible, without compromising product quality.
